Using skills in productive ways-Sasha's Spotlight

Updated: Jun 30, 2022

Sasha is serving in Marshalltown on the Mobile Response Team.

"I’ve always wanted to help people and give back to communities in need. I was interested in using my skills in a productive way while also making a difference," says Sasha Martin from Jacksonville, Florida. "I stumbled upon this opportunity with Habitat for Humanity of Iowa while researching ways to get involved and I immediately wanted to serve."

Sasha was sparked by the mission of Habitat stating, "As an organization they donate and build the futures of people's lives. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that process?"

Through her experiences with the Marshalltown Disaster Response Team, Sasha has developed new skills. "I never had installed siding before," she explains, "and I'm looking forward to getting better with it." Something that Sasha has always known, which may be a surprise to her peers, is that she is a distant cousin of Steve Martin.

If you are interested in joining, we have open positions across Iowa.
