"There was more out there for me" Elizabeth's Spotlight

Meet Elizabeth Voytko! Elizabeth joined our #AmeriCorps Mobile Response Team (MRT) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa back in September 2022 for 6 months. Elizabeth has been a great addition to the team and brings past disaster and service experience to our service program. While hailing from Pennsylvania, Elizabeth was recently serving in Kentucky with the Christian Appalachian Project.

Elizabeth has been inspired to serve by “a feeling that there was more out there for me.”

Elizabeth has recently finished up her Master's of Science in Emergency Management and is currently taking classes in Geographic Information Systems. After her term of service with the AmeriCorps Mobile Response Team (MRT), Elizabeth plans to find more service opportunities and eventually teach emergency management at a college level.

In October 2022, Elizabeth was able to join Volunteer Iowa at the St. Louis flooding disaster response. During her deployment, Elizabeth spent a lot of time mucking and gutting homes which had been flooded.
