helping and reaching my community that is what it inspired me to serve- Asmita's Spotlight


Today, our #MondayMemberSpotlight is featuring Asmita Diyali. Asmita is serving a 6-month term as a family services AmeriCorps member at the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity. Specifically, she has been working with Nepali families translating and walking them through the family selection process.


“I am enjoying interpreting for [Nepali families]. It’s kind of refreshing for me as well. I gained so much knowledge about Habitat. … I am learning so much about how housing works. All the family service employees are very kind and helpful.”

What inspired you to serve? I like helping and reaching my community that is what it inspired me to serve.


What do you enjoy most about serving? Seeing people smiling and being happy I enjoyed the most about serving


What do you like most about Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity? People who work for habitat are super helpful and kind


What is one thing you learned in the last month? I learned that most of the Nepali community that have bought houses from Habitat
