AmeriCorps Spotlight: Micah Otterbein

Looking for something to do after graduation..

Micah Otterbein was looking for something to do after graduation. He had enjoyed his time with the Pittsburgh Project and wanted to learn more about home building and repair so he decided to serve as a Construction AmeriCorps member at the Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity office in Cedar Rapids. Micah starts his day loading the work truck and heading to the build site. Once there he debriefs with other staff and then formulates a plan for the day. They prepare the site for the volunteers arrival. He enjoys the sense of accomplishment he feels after a hard day's work. He said in the past month he has expanded his ability to lead both small and large groups of people.
