This summer, Amman is working with Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity as a community outreach AmeriCorps member. He will complete 450 hours of service before returning to the University of Iowa this fall. Amman is studying environmental policy and planning and intends to pursue a master’s degree in urban planning.

This service term will provide Amman with experience in government and urban planning, as well as in the nonprofit sector. It is a new experience for him, as he has "never worked in a formal office setting or attended city meetings." He is "learning a lot about how governments and nonprofits operate and make day-to-day decisions."
Amman was excited to serve because of the educational and career-relevant aspects of the opportunity.
